Our Israel team has safely arrived back in Cleburne! After a couple of delays they landed at DFW around 11:15pm Friday evening, March 20. Everyone was weary, but safe and healthy. They have been asked to self-quarantine for 14 days. We are excited to have everyone back!
There will be no in-person Sunday School or worship tomorrow, March 22. We will have online worship starting at 10:30am on Facebook (@firstbaptistcleburne). We will have a time of worship with Fred & Lindsey followed by a message from Pastor Danny which he recorded at a couple of sites in Israel before leaving. Gather your family and worship with us at 10:30am tomorrow (Sunday).
Prayerfully consider giving to FBC Cleburne during these difficult days. Our church relies on the faithful gifts of its members. You may give online by CLICKING HERE.
Following the directives of Governor Greg Abbott our church has cancelled all activities at the church through April 3. We will adjust this as further directives are issued. Please stay home as much as possible and do not gather in groups of more than 10 (less is better).
March 19, 2020 - 5:40pm CDT
Following the directives of Cleburne Mayor Scott Cain and Texas Governor Greg Abbott First Baptist Church, Cleburne, TX will suspend all church events and activities through April 3, 2020.
You will be able to watch our worship service this Sunday, March 22, on Facebook (@firstbaptistcleburne) starting at 10:30am. We will have worship led by Fred and Lindsey followed by a message from Pastor Danny which he recorded in two sites while still in Israel.
ISRAEL UPDATE: Their flight is scheduled to depart Tel Aviv at 11:15pm Thursday evening (Cleburne time) and arrive at DFW at 5:46pm Friday. It does not appear the latest advisory issued by the State Department will affect them. In fact, it may help them get home on time since they are urging US citizens to get back ASAP. Continue to pray for their safety.
March 18, 2020 - 5:10pm CDT
We apologize for not posting an update yesterday. Let's try to catch up now, why don't we?
As of right now First Baptist Church of Cleburne, TX is still following the directives of Cleburne Mayor, Scott Cain - no more than 50 are to gather in one location through March 28 (Mayor Cain's original declaration). So, right now we are still planning to resume our regular schedule on Sunday, March 29. However, this can, and probably will, change in the coming days. We will keep you updated as we move forward.
We have received permission and encouragement concerning re-opening our WEE School. Texas Health and Human Services have issued strict, temporary guidelines for operating daycare centers during this time. The church office is working with our Leighton Martinez, our WEE School Director, to develop a plan to re-open soon, at a date to be announced. Our Deacons were informed about this and there was no opposition. Just like everything else this decision may change if new restrictions are issued in the coming days.
ISRAEL UPDATE: Our team has made it safely to Tel Aviv to await their departure on Thursday evening (arrival at DFW Friday evening). Continue to pray for their safety and that all flights are on-time. It is expected the group will be asked to self-quarantine for 14 days upon their arrival home. They have truly worked hard to make the last few days memorable and still be able to take in some of the sights.
Don't forget your family has the opportunity to participate in a live-streamed Bible study and worship experience for teenagers at 7:00pm CDT tonight, Wednesday, March 18. Simply go to YouthGroupAtHome.com and watch with your family. You can download a discussion guide by CLICKING HERE.
March 16, 2020 - 9:30pm CDT
ISRAEL UPDATE: Our team in Israel remains safe and well. They are currently in the City of Jerusalem. They are still required to remain in groups smaller than 10, but it hasn't really slowed them down much. Their tour bus is not allowed to transport them around to various sights. However, most of the group have been walking to different areas in and around Jerusalem taking in its beauty and history. Please continue to pray the group will be able to return safely home on Friday.
CLICK HERE TO GIVE ONLINE - First Baptist Church of Cleburne depends on the faithful giving of its members to carry out day-to-day operations of our church facilities as well as ministry opportunities in our community, state, country, and world. Obviously, our church is constantly looking for ways to help our community during this difficult time. Any help we are able to provide will require resources that come directly from faithful givers. If you are unable or uncomfortable giving online you may mail a check to the church at 414 N Main St, Cleburne, TX 76033. You are also welcome to drop of a financial gift at the church office Monday-Thursday, 8:30am-4:30pm.
The CDC and Mayor Scott Cain have reduced the maximum number of people than can assemble in one place to 50 - this is down from the original number of 250. Despite a lengthier time for this recommended restriction by the CDC, Mayor Cain is keeping the original timeframe of two weeks in place. As he continues to meet with health officials and his staff Mayor Cain may add additional weeks, if needed.
First Baptist Church of Cleburne will continue to be closed for all activities through March 28. At this time we are planning to return to our regular schedule on Sunday, March 29. As stated earlier, and in other updates, this may change. So, please continue to watch for further updates from our church.

ISRAEL UPDATE: Pastor Danny reported this morning, "We are in Jerusalem under a loose lockdown. Although our tour bus cannot drive us places, we can roam in Jerusalem freely and see the sites. They want us to stay in groups smaller than 10, but there is no real enforcement of that. We have tried but cannot get flights out before Friday, and we are very comfortably cared for at our hotel. Pray that our flights get us home on Friday and that no tighter restrictions are placed on us. We are stuck in a good place!"

STATEMENT FROM FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH, CLEBURNE, TX:
In light of recent updates concerning COVID-19, our church leadership has spent much time in prayerful consideration and deliberation over how we should proceed in handling these unprecedented circumstances. We have also spoken with healthcare professionals we know and trust.
Our heart in this issue is that we believe the gospel is worth our lives, that we should be people of faith, not fear and panic. At the same time, Jesus has commanded us to be good neighbors to our surrounding community. This means being a part of the solution for our health care system. To help protect those most vulnerable to this virus in our church and community, and in cooperation with state health care officials, we have decided to cancel all church services and meetings for two weeks beginning tomorrow, March 15.
A few points of note:
This Sunday we are cancelling our worship services and regularly scheduled activities. At 10:30am, we will livestream a worship opportunity for you and your family that you can watch live or throughout the day. This service will be similar to our regular Sunday worship service, and we believe God will be honored as we worship and pray together. You can access this livestream on Facebook (@firstbaptistcleburne).
We will cancel all regularly scheduled church activities through March 28th. We will continue to monitor the situation closely and provide updates here on our website, social media, and emails. Our staff will remain in the office during this time and will be here to assist you.
If you are a regular giver during worship, you can continue to be faithful with your giving to FBC Cleburne through our online giving opportunities. When you continue to give, your financial support allows us as a church to maintain critical ministries that many depend on here in Cleburne, in North America, and around the world. You can give by mail, or online by going to https://onrealm.org/fbccleburne/-/give/now.
Take advantage of this unprecedented time. This virus is not only a public health crisis but is also a spiritual opportunity to share the gospel of Jesus with our neighborhoods and the nations. Unlike any other time in recent history, we are each being confronted with our own humanity and the temporary nature of this life. Take the time to listen to those around you, pray for their needs, share the gospel, and invite them to join us online.
Our goal, as we have navigated this unprecedented time, been bombarded with unexpected events, and made decisions this week, has been both to honor God and care for you, our church family, and our community well. This continues to be our prayer, and we thank you for joining us in asking God to work all these things together for our good and His glory.
